Somewhere between 32 and 37 weeks of gestation, the pull of gravity causes the baby’s head to turn downward into a vertex position, as opposed to the upward position that the baby has assumed through most of the pregnancy. The head is the heaviest part of the baby’s body, and therefore, the turn usually happens easily.
Breech presentations happen in less than 4% of pregnancies. Most medical care providers today are not skilled in breech baby deliveries and therefore breech presentations can result in a caesarean birth. Hypnosis, chiropractics and the mother’s positioning can help turn the breech baby into a vertex position. A study of breech turn using hypnosis by Dr.Lewis Mehl Madronna resulted in an 81% turn in the hypnosis group, compared with 26% in the group who did not have hypnosis.
Fear of ‘letting go’ of your baby, perhaps because of fear of labour and delivery or knowing that your pregnancy is coming to an end; may inhibit your baby’s ability to rotate round and get into a vertex position. Using Hypnotherapy which induces deep relaxation of the muscles; giving your baby room to move round, visualising your baby turn whilst in hypnosis and working through any emotional blocks to releasing your baby, can result in your baby turning naturally.
